THINK GLOBALLY WORK LOCALLY
AWAKE is a non-profit organization founded in 2016. Since then, we have been working with local institutions and schools worldwide to provide children and their communities with improved education and drinking water access.
As part of our more recent projects, we have expanded our focus towards sustainable agriculture, food security, and projects to protect the environment.
We are working on projects in the Dominican Republic, Indonesia, and Senegal.
The work of AWAKE follows a holistic approach. Together with our partners, we develop solutions to the environmental and socio-economic challenges of the 21st century. We firmly believe that creating a balance of social, economic, and ecological capital is the key to growing resilient systems.

Food Sovereignty & Security
In the 21st century, people in parts of the world continue to suffer from hunger. Together with the Dominican NPO Cabarete Sostenible, we are currently working on a project to combat food insecurity. Fostering a form of agricultural production that is tailored directly to the needs of the local population is key and thus follows the goal of achieving food security and food sovereignty while protecting the ecosystem as much as possible. In Cabarete, syntropic agriculture is used. This approach supports the regeneration of the soil and expands the local water reservoir.
eDUCATION mATTERS
Education is the basis of a free and self-determined life. Therefore AWAKE has the vision to create equal educational opportunities for all children worldwide. Raising children's awareness about their situation, the consequences of their actions, and their possibilities to take action to help shape their environment gives us a chance to change our society sustainably and positively. Supporting the individual development of each child then positively affects the entire society they live in.
​ In this context, we care for the physical, emotional, and mental well-being of children and young people.
Safe Drinking Water
Hydration is the foundation for a healthy life. We seek to provide children and their communities unlimited access to clean and safe drinking water by installing and maintaining water treatment systems in public schools and other local facilities.
As a result, children have a greater incentive to go to school and can participate in lessons more concentrated.
Whenever possible, we aim to provide the children with reusable bottles and thus combat the problem of single-use plastic bottles. In this regard, we are always striving to cooperate with local drinking water bottle manufacturers such as Bottles for Earth.
